该1:1 大利乌王第二年六月一日，耶和华的话借着哈该先知临到撒拉铁的儿子、犹大省长所罗巴伯，和约撒答的儿子大祭司约书亚，说：
该1:1 In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, on the first day of the month, came the word of the Lord by Haggai the prophet to Zerubbabel, the son of Shealtiel, ruler of Judah, and to Joshua, the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, saying,
该1:2 “万军之耶和华这样说：‘这民说，重建耶和华殿宇的时候还没有到。’”
该1:2 These are the words of the Lord of armies: These people say, The time has not come for building the Lord's house.
该1:3 于是，耶和华的话临到哈该先知说：
该1:3 Then the word of the Lord came by Haggai the prophet, saying,
该1:4 “这殿宇仍然荒废，岂是你们住在有天花板的房屋的时候吗？”
该1:4 Is it a time for you to be living in roofed houses while this house is a waste?
该1:5 现在万军之耶和华这样说：“你们要反省自己的行为。
该1:5 For this cause the Lord of armies has said, Give thought to your ways.
该1:6 你们撒的种多，收割的却少；你们吃，却吃不饱；你们喝，却喝不足；你们穿衣服，却穿不暖；得工钱的，却把工钱放在破袋里。”
该1:6 Much has been planted, but little got in; you take food, but have not enough; you take drink, but are not full; you are clothed, but no one is warm; and he who gets payment for his work, gets it to put it into a bag full of holes.
该1:7 万军之耶和华这样说：“你们要反省自己的行为。
该1:7 This is what the Lord of armies has said: Give thought to your ways.
该1:8 你们要上山取木材，建造殿宇；我必因此喜悦，并且得荣耀。”耶和华说：
该1:8 Go up to the hills and get wood and put up the house; and I will take pleasure in it and be honoured, says the Lord.
该1:9 “你们期望丰收，反倒歉收；你们收到家里的，我就吹去。”为什么呢？万军之耶和华说：“因为我的殿宇荒废，你们各人却为自己的房屋奔驰。
该1:9 You were looking for much, and it came to little; and when you got it into your house, I took it away with a breath. Why? says the Lord of armies. Because of my house which is a waste, while every man takes care of the house which is his.
该1:10 所以，因你们的缘故，天就不降甘露，地也不出土产。
该1:10 For this cause the heaven over you is kept from giving dew, and the earth from giving her fruit.
该1:11 我叫干旱临到大地、群山、五谷、新酒、新油、地上的出产、人畜和人手劳碌得来的一切。”
该1:11 And by my order no rain came on the land or on the mountains or the grain or the wine or the oil or the produce of the earth or on men or cattle or on any work of man's hands.
该1:12 那时，撒拉铁的儿子所罗巴伯、约撒答的儿子大祭司约书亚和所有余剩的子民，都听从了耶和华他们 神的话，听从了耶和华他们 神所差来的哈该先知的话。众民在耶和华面前都存着敬畏的心。
该1:12 Then Zerubbabel, the son of Shealtiel, and Joshua, the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and all the rest of the people, gave ear to the voice of the Lord their God and to the words of Haggai the prophet, because the Lord their God had sent him, and the people were in fear before the Lord.
该1:13 耶和华的使者哈该，奉耶和华的命，对众民说：“耶和华说：‘我与你们同在。’”
该1:13 Then Haggai, whom the Lord had sent to give his words to the people, said, I am with you, says the Lord.
该1:14 于是耶和华激发了撒拉铁的儿子、犹大省长所罗巴伯的心，和约撒答的儿子大祭司约书亚的心，以及所有余剩子民的心，他们就来兴工建造万军之耶和华他们 神的殿宇。
该1:14 And the spirit of Zerubbabel, the son of Shealtiel, ruler of Judah, was moved by the Lord, as was the spirit of Joshua, the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and the spirit of all the rest of the people; and they came and did work in the house of the Lord of armies, their God.
该1:15 那时是大利乌王第二年六月二十四日。
该1:15 On the twenty-fourth day of the month, in the sixth month, in the second year of Darius the king.
