创40:1 这些事以后，埃及王的酒政和膳长，得罪了他们的主人埃及王。
创40:1 Now after these things the chief servant who had the care of the wine, and the chief bread-maker in Pharaoh's house, did something against Pharaoh's orders;
创40:2 法老就恼怒酒政和膳长这两个臣宰，
创40:2 And Pharaoh was angry with his two servants, with the chief wine-servant and the chief bread-maker;
创40:3 把他们关在军长府内的监房里，就是约瑟被囚禁的地方。
创40:3 And he put them in prison under the care of the captain of the army, in the same prison where Joseph himself was shut up.
创40:4 军长把他们交给约瑟，约瑟就侍候他们。他们在监房里过了好些日子。
创40:4 And the captain put them in Joseph's care, and he did what was needed for them; and they were kept in prison for some time.
创40:5 他们二人，就是被关在监里的埃及王的酒政和膳长，同一夜各作了一个梦，二人的梦各有不同的解释。
创40:5 And these two had a dream on the same night; the chief wine-servant and the chief bread-maker of the king of Egypt, who were in prison, the two of them had dreams with a special sense.
创40:6 到了早晨，约瑟进去到他们那里，见他们神色不安，
创40:6 And in the morning when Joseph came to them he saw that they were looking sad.
创40:7 就问法老的两个臣宰，就是与他一同关在他主人府内的监房里的，说：“今天你们的脸色为什么这样难看呢？”
创40:7 And he said to the servants of Pharaoh who were in prison with him, Why are you looking so sad?
创40:8 他们回答他：“我们各人作了一个梦，但没有人能够解释。”约瑟对他们说：“解梦不是出于 神吗？请把梦告诉我吧。”
创40:8 Then they said to him, We have had a dream, and no one is able to give us the sense. And Joseph said, Does not the sense of dreams come from God? what was your dream?
创40:9 酒政就把自己的梦告诉约瑟，对他说：“在梦里我看见我面前有一棵葡萄树。
创40:9 Then the chief wine-servant gave Joseph an account of his dream, and said, In my dream I saw a vine before me;
创40:10 葡萄树上有三根枝子；树一发芽，就开了花，上头的葡萄都成熟了。
创40:10 And on the vine were three branches; and it seemed as if it put out buds and flowers, and from them came grapes ready for cutting.
创40:11 法老的杯在我手里，我拿了葡萄挤在法老的杯中，把杯递在法老的手里。”
创40:11 And Pharaoh's cup was in my hand, and I took the grapes and crushing them into Pharaoh's cup, gave the cup into Pharaoh's hand.
创40:12 约瑟对他说：“这梦的解释是这样：三根枝子就是三天。
创40:12 Then Joseph said, This is the sense of your dream: the three branches are three days;
创40:13 三天之内，法老必使你抬起头来，恢复你原来的职位；你仍要把杯递在法老的手里，好像先前作他的酒政时一样。
创40:13 After three days Pharaoh will give you honour, and put you back into your place, and you will give him his cup as you did before, when you were his wine-servant.
创40:14 不过，你一切顺利的时候，求你记念我，施恩给我，在法老面前提拔我，救我脱离这监狱。
创40:14 But keep me in mind when things go well for you, and be good to me and say a good word for me to Pharaoh and get me out of this prison:
创40:15 我实在是从希伯来人之地被拐来；就是在这里，我也没有作过什么事该被关在监牢里的。”
创40:15 For truly I was taken by force from the land of the Hebrews; and I have done nothing for which I might be put in prison.
创40:16 膳长见梦解得好，就对约瑟说：“我也作了一个梦，在梦里我看见自己头上有三篮白饼。
创40:16 Now when the chief bread-maker saw that the first dream had a good sense, he said to Joseph, I had a dream; and in my dream there were three baskets of white bread on my head;
创40:17 最上面的篮子里，有为法老烤的各种食物，但飞鸟来吃我头上篮子里的食物。”
创40:17 And in the top basket were all sorts of cooked meats for Pharaoh; and the birds were taking them out of the baskets on my head.
创40:18 约瑟回答：“这梦的解释是这样：三个篮子就是三天。
创40:18 Then Joseph said, This is the sense of your dream: the three baskets are three days;
创40:19 三天之内，法老必砍下你的头来，把你挂在木头上，必有飞鸟来吃你身上的肉。”
创40:19 After three days Pharaoh will take you out of prison, hanging you on a tree, so that your flesh will be food for birds.
创40:20 到了第三日，就是法老的生日，他为臣仆摆设筵席，在他们面前把酒政和膳长提出监来，
创40:20 Now the third day was Pharaoh's birthday, and he gave a feast for all his servants; and he gave honour to the chief wine-servant and the chief bread-maker among the others.
创40:21 恢复了酒政原来的职位，叫他可以把杯递在法老的手中；
创40:21 And he put the chief wine-servant back in his old place; and he gave the cup into Pharaoh's hand.
创40:22 法老却把膳长挂起来，正如约瑟给他们的解释一样。
创40:22 But the chief bread-maker was put to death by hanging, as Joseph had said.
创40:23 但是酒政并不记念约瑟，竟把他忘记了。
创40:23 But the wine-servant did not keep Joseph in mind or give a thought to him.
