N 可11:1 As they approached Jerusalem and came to Bethphage and Bethany at the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two of his disciples,

N 可11:2 saying to them, "Go to the village ahead of you, and just as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, which no one has ever ridden. Untie it and bring it here.

11:3 And if any man say unto you, Why do ye this? say ye that the Lord hath need of him; and straightway he will send him hither.

N 可11:3 If anyone asks you, 'Why are you doing this?' tell him, 'The Lord needs it and will send it back here shortly.'"

11:4 And they went their way, and found the colt tied by the door without in a place where two ways met; and they loose him.

N 可11:4 They went and found a colt outside in the street, tied at a doorway. As they untied it,

11:5 And certain of them that stood there said unto them, What do ye, loosing the colt?

N 可11:5 some people standing there asked, "What are you doing, untying that colt?"

K 可11:6 And they said unto them even as Jesus had commanded: and they let them go.

N 可11:6 They answered as Jesus had told them to, and the people let them go.

11:7 And they brought the colt to Jesus, and cast their garments on him; and he sat upon him.

N 可11:7 When they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their cloaks over it, he sat on it.

11:8 And many spread their garments in the way: and others cut down branches off the trees, and strawed them in the way.

N 可11:8 Many people spread their cloaks on the road, while others spread branches they had cut in the fields.

11:9 And they that went before, and they that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna; Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord:

K 可11:10 Blessed be the kingdom of our father David, that cometh in the name of the Lord: Hosanna in the highest.

N 可11:10 "Blessed is the coming kingdom of our father David!" "Hosanna in the highest!"

11:13 And seeing a fig tree afar off having leaves, he came, if haply he might find any thing thereon: and when he came to it, he found nothing but leaves; for the time of figs was not yet.

N 可11:13 Seeing in the distance a fig tree in leaf, he went to find out if it had any fruit. When he reached it, he found nothing but leaves, because it was not the season for figs.

11:17 And he taught, saying unto them, Is it not written, My house shall be called of all nations the house of prayer? but ye have made it a den of thieves.

N 可11:17 And as he taught them, he said, "Is it not written: "'My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations'? But you have made it 'a den of robbers.'"

11:18 And the scribes and chief priests heard it, and sought how they might destroy him: for they feared him, because all the people was astonished at his doctrine.

11:22 And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.

N 可11:22 "Have faith in God," Jesus answered.

11:23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.

N 可11:23 "I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, 'Go, throw yourself into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him.

11:24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

N 可11:24 Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.

11:25 And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.

N 可11:25 And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive him, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins."

11:26 But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.

N 可11:26 [But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father who is in heaven forgive your sins.]

11:27 And they come again to Jerusalem: and as he was walking in the temple, there come to him the chief priests, and the scribes, and the elders,

N 可11:27 They arrived again in Jerusalem, and while Jesus was walking in the temple courts, the chief priests, the teachers of the law and the elders came to him.

11:28 And say unto him, By what authority doest thou these things? and who gave thee this authority to do these things?

N 可11:28 "By what authority are you doing these things?" they asked. "And who gave you authority to do this?"

11:29 And Jesus answered and said unto them, I will also ask of you one question, and answer me, and I will tell you by what authority I do these things.

N 可11:29 Jesus replied, "I will ask you one question. Answer me, and I will tell you by what authority I am doing these things.

11:30 The baptism of John, was it from heaven, or of men? answer me.

N 可11:30 John's baptism--was it from heaven, or from men? Tell me!"

11:31 And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say, Why then did ye not believe him?

N 可11:31 They discussed it among themselves and said, "If we say, 'From heaven,' he will ask, 'Then why didn't you believe him?'

11:32 But if we shall say, Of men; they feared the people: for all men counted John, that he was a prophet indeed.

N 可11:32 But if we say, 'From men' . . . ." (They feared the people, for everyone held that John really was a prophet.)

11:33 And they answered and said unto Jesus, We cannot tell. And Jesus answering saith unto them, Neither do I tell you by what authority I do these things.

N 可11:33 So they answered Jesus, "We don't know." Jesus said, "Neither will I tell you by what authority I am doing these things."
