申20:1 “你出去和你的仇敌作战的时候，看见马匹、车辆和比你多的人群，你不要怕他们，因为那把你们从埃及地领上来的耶和华你的 神，与你同在。
申20:1 When you go out to war against other nations, and come face to face with horses and war-carriages and armies greater in number than yourselves, have no fear of them: for the Lord your God is with you, who took you up out of the land of Egypt.
申20:2 你们快要上战场的时候，祭司要上前来，对人民说话，
申20:2 And when you are on the point of attacking, let the priest come forward and say to the people,
申20:3 对他们说：‘以色列人哪，你们要听，你们今日快要和仇敌作战，你们不要胆怯，不要惧怕，不要惊慌，不要因他们的缘故战兢；
申20:3 Give ear, O Israel: today you are going forward to the fight; let your heart be strong; do not let uncontrolled fear overcome you because of those who are against you;
申20:4 因为耶和华你们的 神和你们同去，要为你们攻打你们的仇敌，要拯救你们。’
申20:4 For the Lord your God goes with you, fighting for you to give you salvation from those who are against you.
申20:5 官长也要对人民宣告：‘谁建造了新房屋，还没有行过奉献礼的，他可以回家去，恐怕他死在战场上，别人去为他的房屋行奉献礼。
申20:5 And let the overseers say to the people, If there is any man who has made for himself a new house and has not gone into it, let him go back to his house, so that in the event of his death in the fight, another may not take his house for himself.
申20:6 谁栽种了葡萄园，还没有享用过它的果子的，他可以回家去，恐怕他死在战场上，别人去享用它的果子。
申20:6 Or if any man has made a vine-garden without taking the first-fruits of it, let him go back to his house, so that in the event of his death in the fight, another may not be the first to make use of the fruit.
申20:7 谁与女子订了婚，还没有迎娶的，他可以回家去，恐怕他死在战场上，别人去娶了她。’
申20:7 Or if any man is newly married and has had no sex relations with his wife, let him go back to his house, so that in the event of his death in the fight, another man may not take her.
申20:8 官长又要对人民宣告：‘谁是惧怕、胆怯的，他可以回家去，恐怕他使他兄弟的心融化，像他的心一样。’
申20:8 And let the overseers go on to say to the people, If there is any man whose heart is feeble with fear, let him go back to his house before he makes the hearts of his countrymen feeble.
申20:9 官长对人民讲完了话，就要指派军官统率他们。
申20:9 Then, after saying these words to the people, let the overseers put captains over the army.
申20:10 “你临近一座城，要攻打那城的时候，要先向那城提和议。
申20:10 When you come to a town, before attacking it, make an offer of peace.
申20:11 如果那城以和平的话回答你，给你开门，城里所有的人都要给你作苦工，服事你。
申20:11 And if it gives you back an answer of peace, opening its doors to you, then all the people in it may be put to forced work as your servants.
申20:12 如果那城不肯与你言和，却要与你作战，你就要围困那城。
申20:12 If however it will not make peace with you, but war, then let it be shut in on all sides:
申20:13 耶和华你的 神把城交在你手里的时候，你要用利刃杀尽城里所有的男丁。
申20:13 And when the Lord your God has given it into your hands, let every male in it be put to death without mercy.
申20:14 只有妇人、小孩子、牲畜和城里所有的一切，就是一切战利品，你都可以据为己有，你的仇敌的战利品，你都可以吃用，因为这是耶和华你的 神赐给你的。
申20:14 But the women and the children and the cattle and everything in the town and all its wealth, you may take for yourselves: the wealth of your haters, which the Lord your God has given you, will be your food.
申20:15 离开你很远的各城，不是属于这些国民的城，你都要这样对待他们。
申20:15 So you are to do to all the towns far away, which are not the towns of these nations.
申20:16 只是在耶和华你的 神赐给你作产业的这些国民的城市里，凡有气息的，连一个你也不可让他活着；
申20:16 But in the towns of these peoples whose land the Lord your God is giving you for your heritage, let no living thing be kept from death:
申20:17 只要照着耶和华你的 神吩咐你的，把赫人、亚摩利人、迦南人、比利洗人、希未人、耶布斯人，完全灭绝；
申20:17 Give them up to the curse; the Hittite, the Amorite, the Canaanite, the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite, as the Lord your God has given you orders:
申20:18 免得他们教导你们学习一切可憎的事，就是他们对自己的神所行的事，以致他们得罪耶和华你们的 神。
申20:18 So that you may not take them as your example and do all the disgusting things which they do in the worship of their gods, so sinning against the Lord your God.
申20:19 “如果你围困一座城，很久才能攻取占领它，你就不可挥斧破坏那里的树木；因为你可以吃树上的果子，却不可以砍伐树木。难道田间的树木是人，可以被你围困的吗？
申20:19 If in war a town is shut in by your armies for a long time, do not let its trees be cut down and made waste; for their fruit will be your food; are the trees of the countryside men for you to take up arms against them?
申20:20 只有你知道不结果子的树木，你才可以毁坏砍伐，用来建造围城的设备，攻击那与你作战的城，直到把它攻下为止。”
申20:20 Only those trees which you are certain are not used for food may be cut down and put to destruction: and you are to make walls of attack against the town till it is taken.
