约4:1 主知道法利赛人听见他收门徒和施洗比约翰更多
约4:1 Now when it was clear to the Lord that word had come to the ears of the Pharisees that Jesus was making more disciples than John and was giving them baptism
约4:2 （其实不是耶稣亲自施洗，而是他的门徒施洗），
约4:2 (Though, in fact, it was his disciples who gave baptism, not Jesus himself),
约4:3 就离开了犹太，再往加利利去。
约4:3 He went out of Judaea into Galilee again.
约4:4 他必须经过撒玛利亚。
约4:4 And it was necessary for him to go through Samaria.
约4:5 于是到了撒玛利亚的一座城，名叫叙加；这城靠近雅各给他儿子约瑟的那块地。
约4:5 So he came to a town of Samaria which was named Sychar, near to the bit of land which Jacob gave to his son Joseph:
约4:6 在那里有雅各井。耶稣因为旅途疲倦了，就坐在井旁；那时大约正午。
约4:6 Now Jacob's fountain was there. Jesus, being tired after his journey, was resting by the fountain. It was about the sixth hour.
约4:7 有一个撒玛利亚妇人来打水。耶稣对她说：“请给我水喝。”
约4:7 A woman of Samaria came to get water, and Jesus said to her, Give me some water.
约4:8 那时，他的门徒都进城买食物去了。
约4:8 For his disciples had gone to the town to get food.
约4:9 撒玛利亚妇人对耶稣说：“你是犹太人，怎么向我，一个撒玛利亚妇人要水喝呢？”（原来犹太人和撒玛利亚人不相往来。）
约4:9 The woman of Samaria said to him, Why do you, a Jew, make a request for water to me, a woman of Samaria? She said this because Jews have nothing to do with the people of Samaria.
约4:10 耶稣回答她：“你若知道 神的恩赐，和对你说‘请给我水喝’的是谁，你必早已求他，他也必早把活水赐给你了。”
约4:10 In answer Jesus said, If you had knowledge of what God gives freely and who it is who says to you, Give me water, you would make your prayer to him, and he would give you living water.
约4:11 妇人说：“先生，你没有打水的器具，井又深，你从哪里得活水呢？
约4:11 The woman said to him, Sir, you have no vessel and the fountain is deep; from where will you get the living water?
约4:12 我们的祖先雅各把这口井留给我们，他自己和子孙以及牲畜都喝这井的水，难道你比他还大吗？”
约4:12 Are you greater than our father Jacob who gave us the fountain and took the water of it himself, with his children and his cattle?
约4:13 耶稣回答：“凡喝这水的，还要再渴；
约4:13 Jesus said to her, Everyone who takes this water will be in need of it again:
约4:14 人若喝我所赐的水，就永远不渴。我所赐的水要在他里面成为涌流的泉源，直涌到永生。”
约4:14 But whoever takes the water I give him will never be in need of drink again; for the water I give him will become in him a fountain of eternal life.
约4:15 妇人说：“先生，请把这水赐给我，使我不渴，也不用来这里打水。”
约4:15 The woman said to him, Sir, give me this water, so that I may not be in need again of drink and will not have to come all this way for it.
约4:16 耶稣说：“你去，叫你的丈夫，然后回到这里来。”
约4:16 Jesus said to her, Go, get your husband and come back here with him.
约4:17 妇人对他说：“我没有丈夫。”耶稣说：“你说‘没有丈夫’是不错的。
约4:17 In answer, the woman said, I have no husband. Jesus said to her, You have said rightly, I have no husband:
约4:18 你以前有五个丈夫，现在有的并不是你的丈夫；你说这话是真的。”
约4:18 You have had five husbands, and the man you have now is not your husband: that was truly said.
约4:19 妇人说：“先生，我看出你是先知。
约4:19 The woman said to him, Sir, I see that you are a prophet.
约4:20 我们的祖先在这山上敬拜 神，而你们却说，敬拜的地方必须在耶路撒冷。”
约4:20 Our fathers gave worship on this mountain, but you Jews say that the right place for worship is in Jerusalem.
约4:21 耶稣说：“妇人，你应当信我，时候将到，那时你们敬拜父，不在这山上，也不在耶路撒冷。
约4:21 Jesus said to her, Woman, take my word for this; the time is coming when you will not give worship to the Father on this mountain or in Jerusalem.
约4:22 你们敬拜你们所不知道的，我们却敬拜我们所知道的，因为救恩是从犹太人出来的。
约4:22 You give worship, but without knowledge of what you are worshipping: we give worship to what we have knowledge of: for salvation comes from the Jews.
约4:23 然而时候将到，现在就是了，那用心灵按真理敬拜父的，才是真正敬拜的人；因为父在寻找这样敬拜他的人。
约4:23 But the time is coming, and is even now here, when the true worshippers will give worship to the Father in the true way of the spirit, for these are the worshippers desired by the Father.
约4:24 神是灵，敬拜他的必须用心灵按真理敬拜他。”
约4:24 God is Spirit: then let his worshippers give him worship in the true way of the spirit.
约4:25 妇人说：“我知道那称为基督的弥赛亚要来；他来了，要把一切都告诉我们。”
约4:25 The woman said to him, I am certain that the Messiah, who is named Christ, is coming; when he comes he will make all things clear to us.
约4:26 耶稣说：“我这现在跟你说话的就是他。”
约4:26 Jesus said to her, I, who am talking to you, am he.
约4:27 正在这时候，门徒回来了，见耶稣和一个妇人说话，就很希奇；但是没有人问：“你要什么？”或说：“你为什么跟她说话？”
约4:27 At that point the disciples came back, and they were surprised to see him talking to a woman; but not one of them said to him, What is your purpose? or, Why are you talking to her?
约4:28 那妇人撇下了她的水罐，进到城里去，对众人说：
约4:28 Then the woman put down her water-pot and went into the town, and said to the people,
约4:29 “你们来，看看一个人，他把我所作的一切都说出来，难道这人就是基督吗？”
约4:29 Come and see a man who has been talking to me of everything I ever did! Is it possible that this is the Christ?
约4:30 众人就出城，往耶稣那里去。
约4:30 So they went out of the town and came to him.
约4:31 当时，门徒对耶稣说：“拉比，请吃。”
约4:31 While this was taking place, the disciples were saying to Jesus, Master, take some food.
约4:32 耶稣说：“我有食物吃，是你们所不知道的。”
约4:32 But he said to them, I have food of which you have no knowledge.
约4:33 门徒就彼此说：“难道有人拿东西给他吃了吗？”
约4:33 So the disciples said one to another, Did anyone give him food?
约4:34 耶稣说：“我的食物就是遵行差我来者的旨意，并且完成他的工作。
约4:34 Jesus said, My food is to do the pleasure of him who sent me and to make his work complete.
约4:35 你们不是说‘还有四个月才到收获的时候’吗？我告诉你们，举目向田观看，庄稼已经熟了，可以收割了。
约4:35 You would say, Four months from now is the time of the grain-cutting. Take a look, I say to you, at the fields; they are even now white for cutting.
约4:36 收割的人得到工资，也积储五谷直到永生，使撒种的和收割的一同快乐。
约4:36 He who does the cutting now has his reward; he is getting together fruit for eternal life, so that he who did the planting and he who gets in the grain may have joy together.
约4:37 ‘这人撒种，那人收割’，这话是真的。
约4:37 In this the saying is a true one, One does the planting, and another gets in the grain.
约4:38 我派你们去收割你们所没有劳苦的；别人劳苦，你们却享受他们劳苦的成果。”
约4:38 I sent you to get in grain which you had no hand in planting: other men did that work, and you take the reward.
约4:39 因着那妇人作见证的话：“他把我所作的一切都说出来了”，那城里就有许多撒玛利亚人信了耶稣。
约4:39 Now a number of the people of that town had faith in him because of the woman's witness: He has been talking to me of everything I ever did.
约4:40 于是他们来到耶稣那里，求他和他们同住，耶稣就在那里住了两天。
约4:40 So when the people came to him they made request to him to be among them for a time, and he was there two days.
约4:41 因着耶稣的话，信他的人就更多了。
约4:41 And a great number more of them came to have faith in him because of what he himself said.
约4:42 他们就对那妇人说：“现在我们信，不再是因为你的话，而是因为我们亲自听见了，知道这位真是世人的救主。”
约4:42 And they said to the woman, Now we have faith, but not because of your story: we ourselves have given ear to his words, and we are certain that he is truly the Saviour of the world.
约4:43 两天之后，耶稣离开那里，往加利利去。
约4:43 And after the two days he went on from there into Galilee.
约4:44 耶稣自己说过：“先知在本乡是不受尊敬的。”
约4:44 For Jesus himself said that a prophet has no honour in the country of his birth.
约4:45 耶稣到了加利利的时候，加利利人都欢迎他，因为他们曾经上耶路撒冷去过节，见过他所行的一切。
约4:45 So when he came into Galilee, the Galilaeans took him to their hearts because of the things which they had seen him do in Jerusalem at the feast--they themselves having been there at the feast.
约4:46 耶稣又到了加利利的迦拿，就是他变水为酒的地方。有一个大臣，他的儿子在迦百农患病。
约4:46 So he came to Cana in Galilee, where he had made the water wine. And there was a certain man of high position whose son was ill at Capernaum.
约4:47 他听见耶稣从犹太到了加利利，就来见他，求他下去医治他的儿子，因为他的儿子快要死了。
约4:47 When it came to his ears that Jesus had come from Judaea into Galilee, he went to him and made a request that he would come down to his son, who was near to death, and make him well.
约4:48 耶稣对他说：“你们若看不见神迹奇事，总是不肯信。”
约4:48 Then Jesus said to him, You will not have faith if you do not see signs and wonders.
约4:49 大臣说：“先生，求你趁我的孩子还没有死就下去吧！”
约4:49 The man said, Sir, come down before my boy is dead.
约4:50 耶稣告诉他：“回去吧，你的儿子好了。”那人信耶稣对他说的话，就回去了。
约4:50 And Jesus said, Go in peace; your son is living. The man had faith in the word which Jesus said to him and went away.
约4:51 正下去的时候，他的仆人迎着他走来，说他的孩子好了。
约4:51 And while he was going down, his servants came to him and said, Your boy is living.
约4:52 他就向仆人查问孩子是什么时候好转的。他们告诉他：“昨天下午一点钟，热就退了。”
约4:52 So he put a question to them as to the hour when he became better; and they said to him, The disease went from him yesterday at the seventh hour.
约4:53 这父亲就知道，那正是耶稣告诉他“你的儿子好了”的时候，他自己和全家就信了。
约4:53 It was clear then to the father that this was the very time at which Jesus said to him, Your son is living. And he had faith in Jesus, he and all his family.
约4:54 这是耶稣从犹太回到加利利以后所行的第二件神迹。
约4:54 Now this is the second sign which Jesus did after he had come out of Judaea into Galilee.
