约11:1 有一个患病的人，名叫拉撒路，住在伯大尼，就是马利亚和她姊姊马大的村庄。
约11:1 Now a certain man named Lazarus was ill; he was of Bethany, the town of Mary and her sister Martha.
约11:2 这马利亚就是后来用香膏抹主，并且用头发把主的脚擦干的那人；患病的拉撒路是她的兄弟。
约11:2 (The Mary whose brother Lazarus was ill, was the Mary who put perfumed oil on the Lord and made his feet dry with her hair.)
约11:3 姊妹二人派人到耶稣那里去，说：“主啊，你所爱的人病了。”
约11:3 So the sisters sent to him, saying, Lord, your dear friend is ill.
约11:4 耶稣听见，就说：“这病不至于死，而是为了 神的荣耀，使 神的儿子因此得到荣耀。”
约11:4 When this came to his ears, Jesus said, The end of this disease is not death, but the glory of God, so that the Son of God may have glory because of it.
约11:5 耶稣向来爱马大和她的妹妹马利亚，以及拉撒路。
约11:5 Now Jesus had love in his heart for Martha and her sister and Lazarus.
约11:6 他听说拉撒路病了，仍然在原来的地方住了两天，
约11:6 So when the news came to him that Lazarus was ill, he did not go from the place where he was for two days.
约11:7 然后对门徒说：“我们再到犹太去吧。”
约11:7 Then after that time he said to his disciples, Let us go into Judaea again.
约11:8 门徒对他说：“拉比，近来犹太人要拿石头打你，你还到那里去吗？”
约11:8 The disciples said to him, Master, the Jews were attempting only the other day to have you stoned, and are you going back there again?
约11:9 耶稣说：“白昼不是有十二小时吗？人若在白昼行走，就不会跌倒，因为他看见这世上的光；
约11:9 Then Jesus said in answer, Are there not twelve hours in the day? A man may go about in the day without falling, because he sees the light of this world.
约11:10 人若在夜间行走，就会跌倒，因为他没有光。”
约11:10 But if a man goes about in the night, he may have a fall because the light is not in him.
约11:11 耶稣说完了这些话，跟着又对他们说：“我们的朋友拉撒路睡了，我要去唤醒他。”
约11:11 These things said he: and after that he said to them, Lazarus our friend is at rest; but I go so that I may make him come out of his sleep.
约11:12 门徒说：“主啊，如果他睡了，就会好过来的。”
约11:12 Then his disciples said to him, Lord, if he is resting he will get well.
约11:13 其实耶稣是指着拉撒路的死说的，门徒却以为他是指正常的睡眠说的。
约11:13 Jesus, however, was talking of his death: but they had the idea that he was talking about taking rest in sleep.
约11:14 于是，耶稣公开地告诉他们：“拉撒路死了。
约11:14 Then Jesus said to them clearly, Lazarus is dead.
约11:15 我为你们欢喜，因为我不在那里，是要使你们相信。现在我们到他那里去吧。”
约11:15 And because of you I am glad I was not there, so that you may have faith; but let us go to him.
约11:16 那称为“双生子”的多马，对其他的门徒说：“我们也去跟他一同死吧！”
约11:16 Then Thomas, who was named Didymus, said to the other disciples, Let us go so that we may be with him in death.
约11:17 耶稣到了，知道拉撒路在坟墓里已经四天了。
约11:17 Now when Jesus came, he made the discovery that Lazarus had been put into the earth four days before.
约11:18 伯大尼靠近耶路撒冷，相距约有三公里。
约11:18 Now Bethany was near to Jerusalem, about two miles away;
约11:19 有许多犹太人来到马大和马利亚那里，为了拉撒路的死来安慰她们。
约11:19 And a number of Jews had come to Martha and Mary to give them comfort about their brother.
约11:20 马大听见耶稣来了，就去迎接他，马利亚却仍然坐在家里。
约11:20 When Martha had the news that Jesus was on the way, she went out to him, but Mary did not go from the house.
约11:21 马大对耶稣说：“主啊，如果你早在这里，我的兄弟就不会死了！
约11:21 Then Martha said to Jesus, Lord, if you had been here my brother would not be dead.
约11:22 就是现在，我也知道无论你向 神求什么， 神必赐给你。”
约11:22 But I am certain that, even now, whatever request you make to God, God will give it to you.
约11:23 耶稣对她说：“你的兄弟必会复活。”
约11:23 Jesus said to her, Your brother will come to life again.
约11:24 马大说：“我知道在末日复活的时候，他必会复活。”
约11:24 Martha said to him, I am certain that he will come to life again when all come back from the dead at the last day.
约11:25 耶稣说：“我就是复活和生命；信我的人，虽然死了，也要活着。
约11:25 Jesus said to her, I am myself that day and that life; he who has faith in me will have life even if he is dead;
约11:26 所有活着又信我的人，必定永远不死，你信这话吗？”
约11:26 And no one who is living and has faith in me will ever see death. Is this your faith?
约11:27 她说：“主啊，我信；我已经信了，你是基督，是 神的儿子，是那要到世上来的。”
约11:27 She said to him, Yes, Lord: my faith is that you are the Christ, the Son of God, who was to come into the world.
约11:28 马大说了这些话，就回去暗暗地叫她妹妹马利亚，说：“老师来了，他叫你。”
约11:28 And having said this, she went away and said secretly to her sister Mary, The Master is here and has sent for you.
约11:29 马利亚一听见，就急忙起来，到耶稣那里去。
约11:29 And Mary, hearing this, got up quickly and went to him.
约11:30 那时，耶稣还没有进入村子，仍然在马大迎接他的地方。
约11:30 Now Jesus had not at this time come into the town, but was still in the place where Martha had seen him.
约11:31 那些在房子和马利亚在一起安慰她的犹太人，见她匆忙地起来出去，就跟着她，以为她要到坟墓那里去哭。
约11:31 Then the Jews who were with her in the house, comforting her, when they saw Mary get up quickly and go out, went after her in the belief that she was going to the place of the dead and would be weeping there.
约11:32 马利亚来到耶稣那里，一看见他，就俯伏在他脚前，说：“主啊，如果你早在这里，我的兄弟就不会死了！”
约11:32 When Mary came to where Jesus was and saw him, she went down at his feet, saying, Lord, if you had been here my brother would not be dead.
约11:33 耶稣看见她在哭，和她一同来的犹太人也在哭，就心里激动，难过起来，
约11:33 And when Jesus saw her weeping, and saw the Jews weeping who came with her, his spirit was moved and he was troubled,
约11:34 说：“你们把他安放在哪里？”他们说：“主啊，请来看。”
约11:34 And said, Where have you put him? They said, Come and see, Lord.
约11:35 耶稣哭了。
约11:35 And Jesus himself was weeping.
约11:36 于是犹太人说：“你看，他多么爱这个人！”
约11:36 So the Jews said, See how dear he was to him!
约11:37 他们中间有人说：“他既然开了瞎子的眼睛，难道不能使这个人不死吗？”
约11:37 But some of them said, This man, who made open the eyes of the blind man, was he not able to keep his friend from death?
约11:38 耶稣又再心里激动，来到坟墓前面。那坟墓是一个洞穴，洞口有块石头堵住。
约11:38 So Jesus, deeply troubled in heart, came to the place of the dead. It was a hole in the rock, and a stone was over the opening.
约11:39 耶稣说：“把这块石头挪开！”死者的姊姊马大对他说：“主啊，已经四天了，他必定臭了。”
约11:39 Jesus said, Take away the stone. Martha, the sister of him who was dead, said, Lord, by this time the body will be smelling, for he has been dead four days.
约11:40 耶稣说：“我不是对你说过‘如果你信，就必定看见 神的荣耀’吗？”
约11:40 Jesus said to her, Did I not say to you that if you had faith you would see the glory of God?
约11:41 于是他们把石头挪开。耶稣举目向天，说：“父啊，我感谢你，因为你垂听了我，
约11:41 So they took away the stone. And Jesus, looking up to heaven, said, Father, I give praise to you for hearing me.
约11:42 我知道你常常听我，但我说这话，是为了周围站着的群众，叫他们信是你差了我来。”
约11:42 I was certain that your ears are at all times open to me, but I said it because of these who are here, so that they may see that you sent me.
约11:43 说了这话，就大声呼喊：“拉撒路，出来！”
约11:43 Then he said in a loud voice, Lazarus, come out!
约11:44 那死了的人就出来，他的手脚都缠着布，脸上裹着巾。耶稣说：“解开他，让他走！”
约11:44 And he who was dead came out, with linen bands folded tightly about his hands and feet, and a cloth about his face. Jesus said to them, Make him free and let him go.
约11:45 有许多到马利亚那里去的犹太人，看见了耶稣所作的事，就信了他。
约11:45 Then a number of the Jews who had come to Mary and had seen the things which Jesus did had belief in him.
约11:46 但他们中间有些人到法利赛人那里去，把耶稣所作的事都告诉他们。
约11:46 But some of them went to the Pharisees with the news of what Jesus had done.
约11:47 于是祭司长和法利赛人召开公议会，说：“这个人行了许多神迹，我们怎么办呢？
约11:47 Then the high priests and the Pharisees had a meeting and said, What are we doing? This man is doing a number of signs.
约11:48 我们若让他这样，所有的人都会信他，罗马人就会来，夺取我们的圣地，除灭我们的民族。”
约11:48 If we let him go on in this way, everybody will have belief in him and the Romans will come and take away our place and our nation.
约11:49 他们当中有一位该亚法，是那年作大祭司的，对他们说：“你们什么都不知道，
约11:49 But one of them, Caiaphas, who was high priest that year, said to them, You have no knowledge of anything;
约11:50 也不去想想，一个人代替人民死，免得整个民族灭亡，这对你们是有益的。”
约11:50 You do not see that it is in your interest for one man to be put to death for the people, so that all the nation may not come to destruction.
约11:51 他说这话不是由于自己，而是因为他是那年的大祭司，所以预言耶稣要替犹太民族死；
约11:51 He did not say this of himself, but being the high priest that year he said, as a prophet, that Jesus would be put to death for the nation;
约11:52 不但替犹太民族死，也要把散居各地的 神的儿女招聚成为一体。
约11:52 And not for that nation only, but for the purpose of uniting in one body the children of God all over the world.
约11:53 从那天起，他们就想杀害耶稣。
约11:53 And from that day they took thought together how to put him to death.
约11:54 因此，耶稣不再在犹太人中间公开活动，却离开那里，到旷野附近的地方去；到了一座名叫以法莲的城，就和门徒住在那里。
约11:54 So Jesus no longer went about publicly among the Jews, but went from there into the country near to the waste land, to a town named Ephraim, where he was for some time with the disciples.
约11:55 犹太人的逾越节快到了，有许多人在过节前从各乡上耶路撒冷去，要在那里洁净自己。
约11:55 Now the Passover of the Jews was near, and numbers of people went up from the country to Jerusalem to make themselves clean before the Passover.
约11:56 他们到处找寻耶稣，站在圣殿里的时候，彼此说：“你们认为怎样？他不会来过节吧？”
约11:56 They were looking for Jesus and saying to one another while they were in the Temple, What is your opinion? Will he not come to the feast?
约11:57 祭司长和法利赛人早已下了命令：如果有人知道耶稣在哪里，就要前来报告，好去逮捕他。
约11:57 Now the chief priests and the Pharisees had given orders that if anyone had knowledge where he was, he was to give them word, so that they might take him.
