约8:1 于是各人都回家去了。（后期抄本才加上7:53~8:11）耶稣往橄榄山去。
约8:1 But Jesus went to the Mountain of Olives.
约8:2 黎明的时候，他又到圣殿去，众人都来到他那里，他就坐下教导他们。
约8:2 And early in the morning he came again into the Temple and all the people came to him and he was seated teaching them.
约8:3 经学家和法利赛人带了一个行淫时被抓到的妇人来，叫她站在中间，
约8:3 Now the scribes and Pharisees came, with a woman who had been taken in the act of sinning against the married relation;
约8:4 就对耶稣说：“先生，这妇人是正在犯奸淫的时候被抓到的。
约8:4 And putting her forward, they said to him, Master, this woman has been taken in the very act of sinning against the married relation.
约8:5 摩西在律法上吩咐我们把这样的妇人用石头打死，你怎样说呢？”
约8:5 Now in the law Moses gave directions that such women were to be stoned; what do you say about it?
约8:6 他们说这话是要试探耶稣，要找把柄来控告他。耶稣却弯下身，用指头在地上写字。
约8:6 They said this, testing him, so that they might have something against him. But Jesus, with his head bent down, made letters on the floor with his finger.
约8:7 他们不住地问耶稣，他就挺起身来，说：“你们中间谁是没有罪的，他就可以先拿起石头打她。”
约8:7 But when they went on with their questions, he got up and said to them, Let him among you who is without sin be the first to send a stone at her.
约8:8 于是又弯下身在地上写字。
约8:8 And again, with bent head, he made letters on the floor.
约8:9 他们听了这话，就从年老的开始，一个一个地都离开了，留下的只有耶稣和那个还站在那里的妇人。
约8:9 And when his words came to their ears, they went out one by one, starting with the oldest even to the last, because they were conscious of what was in their hearts: and Jesus was there by himself with the woman before him.
约8:10 耶稣挺起身来，问她：“妇人，他们在哪里？没有人定你的罪吗？”
约8:10 Then Jesus got up, and seeing nobody but the woman, he said to her, Where are the men who said things against you? did no one give a decision against you?
约8:11 她说：“主啊！没有。”耶稣说：“我也不定你的罪。走吧，从现在起不要再犯罪了。”
约8:11 And she said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said, And I do not give a decision against you: go, and never do wrong again.]
约8:12 耶稣又对众人说：“我是世界的光，跟从我的，必定不在黑暗里走，却要得着生命的光。”
约8:12 Then again Jesus said to them, I am the light of the world; he who comes with me will not be walking in the dark but will have the light of life.
约8:13 法利赛人对他说：“你为自己作证，你的见证不是真实的。”
约8:13 So the Pharisees said to him, The witness you give is about yourself: your witness is not true.
约8:14 耶稣回答：“即使我为自己作证，我的见证还是真实的，因为我知道我从哪里来，往哪里去，但你们却不知道我从哪里来，往哪里去。
约8:14 Jesus said in answer, Even if I give witness about myself, my witness is true, because I have knowledge of where I came from and where I am going; but you have no knowledge of where I come from or of where I am going.
约8:15 你们按着外貌判断人，我却不判断人。
约8:15 You are judging from what you see; I am judging no man.
约8:16 即使我判断人，我的判断也是正确的，因为我不是独自一人，而是差我来的父和我在一起。
约8:16 Even if I am judging, my decision is right, because I am not by myself--with me is the Father who sent me.
约8:17 你们的律法上也写着：‘两个人的见证才是真的。’
约8:17 Even in your law it is said that the witness of two men is true.
约8:18 我为自己作证，差我来的父也为我作证。”
约8:18 I give witness about myself and the Father who sent me gives witness about me.
约8:19 他们问：“你的父在哪里？”耶稣回答：“你们不认识我，也不认识我的父；如果你们认识我，也就认识我的父了。”
约8:19 Then they said to him, Where is your Father? Jesus said in answer, You have no knowledge of me or of my Father: if you had knowledge of me you would have knowledge of my Father.
约8:20 这些话是耶稣在殿里教导人的时候，在银库的院中说的。当时没有人逮捕他，因为他的时候还没有到。
约8:20 Jesus said these words in the place where the offerings were stored, while he was teaching in the Temple: but no man took him because his time was still to come.
约8:21 耶稣又对他们说：“我要去了，你们要寻找我，并且要在自己的罪中死亡；我去的地方，你们不能到。”
约8:21 Then he said to them again, I am going away and you will be looking for me, but death will overtake you in your sins. It is not possible for you to come where I am going.
约8:22 于是犹太人说：“他说‘我去的地方，你们不能到’，难道他要自杀吗？”
约8:22 So the Jews said, Will he take his life? Is that why he says, Where I go it is not possible for you to come?
约8:23 耶稣说：“你们是从地上来的，我是从天上来的；你们属这世界，我却不属这世界，
约8:23 And he said to them, You are of the earth; I am from heaven: you are of this world; I am not of this world.
约8:24 所以我对你们说，你们要在自己的罪中死亡；你们若不信我就是‘那一位’，就要在自己的罪中死亡。”
约8:24 For this reason I said to you that death will overtake you in your sins: for if you have not faith that I am he, death will come to you while you are in your sins.
约8:25 他们就问：“你是谁？”耶稣说：“我不是从起初就告诉你们吗？
约8:25 Then they said to him, Who are you? Jesus said, What I said to you from the first.
约8:26 关于你们，我有许多事要说，要判断；但那差我来的是真实的，我从他那里听见的，就告诉世人。”
约8:26 I have much to say about you and against you: but he who sent me is true and what he has said to me I say to the world.
约8:27 他们不明白耶稣是对他们讲论父的事。
约8:27 They did not see that his words were about the Father.
约8:28 所以耶稣说：“你们举起了人子以后，必定知道我就是‘那一位’，并且知道我不凭着自己作什么事；我说的这些话，是照着父所教导我的。
约8:28 So Jesus said, When the Son of man has been lifted up by you, then it will be clear to you who I am, and that I do nothing of myself, but say as the Father gave me teaching.
约8:29 那差我来的和我同在，他没有留下我独自一人，因为我常作他喜悦的事。”
约8:29 He who sent me is with me; he has not gone from me, because at all times I do the things which are pleasing to him.
约8:30 耶稣说这些话的时候，就有许多人信了他。
约8:30 When he said this a number came to have faith in him.
约8:31 于是耶稣对信了他的犹太人说：“你们若持守我的道，就真是我的门徒了；
约8:31 Then Jesus said to the Jews who had faith in him, If you keep my word, then you are truly my disciples;
约8:32 你们必定认识真理，真理必定使你们自由。”
约8:32 And you will have knowledge of what is true, and that will make you free.
约8:33 他们说：“我们是亚伯拉罕的后裔，从来没有被谁奴役过，你怎么说‘你们必得自由’呢？”
约8:33 They said to him in answer, We are Abraham's seed and have never been any man's servant: why do you say, You will become free?
约8:34 耶稣说：“我实实在在告诉你们，凡犯罪的都是罪的奴隶。
约8:34 And this was the answer Jesus gave them: Truly I say to you, Everyone who does evil is the servant of sin.
约8:35 奴隶不能永远住在家里，唯有儿子才可以永远住在家里。
约8:35 Now the servant does not go on living in the house for ever, but the son does.
约8:36 所以， 神的儿子若使你们自由，你们就真的得自由了。
约8:36 If then the son makes you free, you will be truly free.
约8:37 我知道你们是亚伯拉罕的后裔；但你们想杀我，因为你们心里不能容纳我的道。
约8:37 I am conscious that you are Abraham's seed; but you have a desire to put me to death because my word has no place in you.
约8:38 我所说的，是我在父那里看见的；但你们所作的，却是从你们的父那里听见的。”
约8:38 I say the things which I have seen in my Father's house: and you do the things which come to you from your father's house.
约8:39 他们说：“我们的祖宗是亚伯拉罕。”耶稣说：“你们若是亚伯拉罕的子孙，就必作亚伯拉罕所作的。
约8:39 In answer they said to him, Our father is Abraham. Jesus said to them, If you were Abraham's children you would do what Abraham did.
约8:40 现在我把从 神那里听见的真理告诉了你们，你们竟然想杀我，这不是亚伯拉罕所作的。
约8:40 But now you have a desire to put me to death, a man who has said to you what is true, as I had it from God: Abraham did not do that.
约8:41 你们要作的，正是你们的父要作的。”他们说：“我们不是从淫乱生的；我们只有一位父，就是 神。”
约8:41 You are doing the works of your father. They said to him, We are true sons of Abraham; we have one Father, who is God.
约8:42 耶稣说：“如果 神是你们的父，你们就必爱我，因为我是从 神那里来的；我已经来到这里。我不是凭着自己来的，而是 神差了我来。
约8:42 Jesus said to them, If God was your Father you would have love for me, because it was from God I came and am here. I did not come of myself, but he sent me.
约8:43 你们为什么不明白我的话呢？因为我的道你们听不进去。
约8:43 Why are my words not clear to you? It is because your ears are shut to my teaching.
约8:44 你们是出于你们的父魔鬼，喜欢按着你们的父的私欲行事。他从起初就是杀人的凶手，不守真理，因为他心里没有真理。他说谎是出于本性，因为他本来就是说谎者，也是说谎的人的父。
约8:44 You are the children of your father the Evil One and it is your pleasure to do his desires. From the first he was a taker of life; and he did not go in the true way because there is no true thing in him. When he says what is false, it is natural to him, for he is false and the father of what is false.
约8:45 我讲真理，你们却因此不信我。
约8:45 But because I say what is true, you have no belief in me.
约8:46 你们中间有谁能指证我有罪呢？我既然讲真理，你们为什么不信我呢？
约8:46 Which of you is able truly to say that I am a sinner? If I say what is true, why have you no belief in me?
约8:47 出于 神的，就听 神的话；你们不听，因为你们不是出于 神的。”
约8:47 He who is a child of God gives ear to the words of God: your ears are not open to them because you are not from God.
约8:48 犹太人对耶稣说：“我们说你是撒玛利亚人，并且是鬼附的，不是很对吗？”
约8:48 The Jews said to him in answer, Are we not right in saying that you are of Samaria and have an evil spirit?
约8:49 耶稣回答：“我不是鬼附的。我尊敬我的父，你们却侮辱我。
约8:49 And this was the answer of Jesus: I have not an evil spirit; but I give honour to my Father and you do not give honour to me.
约8:50 我不求自己的荣耀，但有一位是为我求荣耀，并且是审判人的。
约8:50 I, however, am not in search of glory for myself: there is One who is searching for it and he is judge.
约8:51 我实实在在告诉你们，人若遵守我的道，必定永远不见死亡。”
约8:51 Truly I say to you, If a man keeps my word he will never see death.
约8:52 犹太人对他说：“现在我们知道你的确是鬼附的。亚伯拉罕死了，先知们也死了，你还说‘人若遵守我的道，必定永远不尝死味’，
约8:52 The Jews said to him, Now we are certain that you have an evil spirit. Abraham is dead, and the prophets are dead; and you say, If a man keeps my word he will never see death.
约8:53 难道你比我们的祖宗亚伯拉罕还大吗？他死了，先知们也死了；你把自己当作什么人呢？”
约8:53 Are you greater than our father Abraham, who is dead? and the prophets are dead: who do you say that you are?
约8:54 耶稣回答：“如果我荣耀自己，我的荣耀就算不得什么；那使我得荣耀的是我的父，就是你们说是你们的 神的那一位。
约8:54 Jesus said in answer, If I take glory for myself, my glory is nothing: it is my Father who gives me glory, of whom you say that he is your God.
约8:55 可是你们不认识他，我却认识他。如果我说我不认识他，我就像你们一样是说谎的；然而我认识他，也遵守他的道。
约8:55 You have no knowledge of him, but I have knowledge of him; and if I said I have no knowledge of him I would be talking falsely like you: but I have full knowledge of him, and I keep his word.
约8:56 你们的祖宗亚伯拉罕，因为可以看见我的日子就欢喜，既然看见了，他就很快乐。”
约8:56 Your father Abraham was full of joy at the hope of seeing my day: he saw it and was glad.
约8:57 犹太人对他说：“你还不到五十岁，怎会见过亚伯拉罕呢？”
约8:57 Then the Jews said to him, You are not fifty years old; have you seen Abraham?
约8:58 耶稣说：“我实实在在告诉你们，亚伯拉罕出生以前，我已经存在了。”
约8:58 Jesus said to them, Truly I say to you, Before Abraham came into being, I am.
约8:59 于是他们拿起石头要打他。耶稣却躲起来，从殿里出去了。
约8:59 So they took up stones to send at him: but Jesus got secretly out of their way and went out of the Temple.
