太14:1 那时，分封王希律听见耶稣的名声，
太14:1 At that time news of Jesus came to Herod the king;
太14:2 就对臣仆说：“这人是施洗的约翰，他从死人中复活，所以他身上有行神迹的能力。”
太14:2 And he said to his servants, This is John the Baptist; he has come back from the dead, and so these powers are working in him.
太14:3 原来希律为了他弟弟腓力的妻子希罗底的缘故，拘捕了约翰，把他捆绑，关在监里，
太14:3 For Herod had taken John and put him in prison because of Herodias, his brother Philip's wife.
太14:4 因为约翰多次告诉他：“你占有她是不合理的。”
太14:4 Because John had said to him, It is not right for you to have her.
太14:5 他想杀约翰，但又害怕群众，因为他们都认为约翰是个先知。
太14:5 And he would have put him to death, but for his fear of the people, because in their eyes John was a prophet.
太14:6 到了希律生日的那天，希罗底的女儿在众人面前跳舞，希律非常高兴，
太14:6 But when Herod's birthday came, the daughter of Herodias was dancing before them, and Herod was pleased with her.
太14:7 就起誓答应她，无论求什么都给她。
太14:7 So he gave her his word with an oath to let her have whatever she might make request for.
太14:8 她在母亲的怂恿之下，说：“请把施洗的约翰的头放在盘子上给我。”
太14:8 And she, at her mother's suggestion, said, Give me here on a plate the head of John the Baptist.
太14:9 王就忧愁，但因为誓言和在座的宾客，就下令给她。
太14:9 And the king was sad; but because of his oaths and because of his guests, he gave the order for it to be given to her;
太14:10 他派人去，在监里斩了约翰的头，
太14:10 And he sent and had John's head cut off in the prison.
太14:11 把头放在盘子上，拿来给那女孩子，她又带给母亲。
太14:11 And his head was put on a plate and given to the girl; and she took it to her mother.
太14:12 约翰的门徒前来，领了尸体，把它埋葬，然后去告诉耶稣。
太14:12 And his disciples came, and took up his body and put it in the earth; and they went and gave Jesus news of what had taken place.
太14:13 耶稣听见了，就离开那里，独自坐船到旷野去。群众听见了，就从各城步行来跟随他。
太14:13 Now when it came to the ears of Jesus, he went away from there in a boat, to a waste place by himself: and the people hearing of it, went after him on foot from the towns.
太14:14 耶稣上了岸，看见一大群人，就怜悯他们，医好了他们的病人。
太14:14 And he came out and saw a great number of people and he had pity on them, and made well those of them who were ill.
太14:15 黄昏的时候，门徒前来对他说：“这是旷野的地方，时间也不早了，请叫群众散开，好让他们往村里去，买自己的食物吧。”
太14:15 And when evening had come, the disciples came to him, saying, This place is waste land, and the time is now past; send the people away so that they may go into the towns and get themselves food.
太14:16 耶稣回答：“他们用不着离开，你们给他们吃吧！”
太14:16 But Jesus said to them, There is no need for them to go away; give them food yourselves.
太14:17 但门徒说：“我们这里除了五个饼和两条鱼，什么也没有。”
太14:17 And they say to him, We have here but five cakes of bread and two fishes.
太14:18 他说：“拿过来给我。”
太14:18 And he said, Give them to me.
太14:19 于是吩咐群众坐在草地上，拿起那五个饼两条鱼，望着天，祝谢了；然后把饼擘开，递给门徒，门徒又分给群众。
太14:19 And he gave orders for the people to be seated on the grass; and he took the five cakes of bread and the two fishes and, looking up to heaven, he said words of blessing, and made division of the food, and gave it to the disciples, and the disciples gave it to the people.
太14:20 大家都吃了，并且吃饱了，他们把剩下的零碎拾起来，装满了十二个篮子。
太14:20 And they all took of the food and had enough: and they took up twelve baskets full of broken bits which were not used.
太14:21 吃的人，除了妇女和孩子，约有五千。
太14:21 And those who had food were about five thousand men, in addition to women and children.
太14:22 耶稣立刻催门徒上船，叫他们先到对岸去，他却留下来叫群众散开。
太14:22 And straight away he made the disciples get into the boat and go before him to the other side, till he had sent the people away.
太14:23 他解散了群众，就独自上山去祷告。到了晚上，他还是独自一人在那里。
太14:23 And after he had sent the people away, he went up into the mountain by himself for prayer: and when evening was come, he was there by himself.
太14:24 那时门徒的船已经离岸数公里，因为逆风，被波浪冲击。
太14:24 But the boat was now in the middle of the sea, and was troubled by the waves: for the wind was against them.
太14:25 天快亮的时候（“天快亮的时候”原文作“夜里四更天”），耶稣在海面上向他们走过去。
太14:25 And in the fourth watch of the night he came to them, walking on the sea.
太14:26 门徒见他在海面上行走，就很惊慌，说：“有鬼啊！”并且恐惧得大叫起来。
太14:26 And when they saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they gave cries of fear.
太14:27 耶稣立刻对他们说：“放心吧！是我，不要怕。”
太14:27 But straight away Jesus said to them, Take heart; it is I, have no fear.
太14:28 彼得对他说：“主啊，如果是你，让我在水面上到你那里去。”
太14:28 And Peter, answering, said to him, Lord, if it is you, give me the order to come to you on the water.
太14:29 他说：“来吧！”彼得就从船上下来，行在水面上，走向耶稣那里去。
太14:29 And he said, Come. And Peter got out of the boat, and walking on the water, went to Jesus.
太14:30 但他一见风浪就害怕，快要沉下去的时候，就呼叫：“主啊！救我！”
太14:30 But when he saw the wind he was in fear and, starting to go down, he gave a cry, saying, Help, Lord.
太14:31 耶稣马上伸手拉住他，对他说：“小信的人哪，为什么疑惑？”
太14:31 And straight away Jesus put out his hand and took a grip of him, and said to him, O man of little faith, why were you in doubt?
太14:32 他们上了船，风就平静了。
太14:32 And when they had got into the boat, the wind went down.
太14:33 船上的人都拜他，说：“你真是 神的儿子。”
太14:33 And those who were in the boat gave him worship, saying, Truly you are the Son of God.
太14:34 他们过到对岸，来到革尼撒勒的地区。
太14:34 And when they had gone across, they came to land at Gennesaret.
太14:35 那地的人认出是耶稣，就把消息传遍了那一带。众人把一切有病的人都带来，
太14:35 And when the men of that place had news of him, they sent into all the country round about, and took to him all who were ill,
太14:36 求耶稣让他们只摸一摸他衣服的繸子，摸着的人就都痊愈了。
太14:36 With the request that they might only put their hands on the edge of his robe: and all those who did so were made well.
