创23:1 撒拉享寿一百二十七岁，这是撒拉一生的岁数。
创23:1 Now the years of Sarah's life were a hundred and twenty-seven.
创23:2 撒拉死在迦南地的基列．亚巴，就是希伯仑；亚伯拉罕为撒拉哀恸哭号。
创23:2 And Sarah's death took place in Kiriath-arba, that is, Hebron, in the land of Canaan: and Abraham went into his house, weeping and sorrowing for Sarah.
创23:3 亚伯拉罕从死者面前起来，对赫人说：
创23:3 And Abraham came from his dead and said to the children of Heth,
创23:4 “我是在你们中间寄居的外族人，求你们在你们中间给我一块坟地作产业，使我可以埋葬我死了的人，使她不露在我面前。”
创23:4 I am living among you as one from a strange country: give me some land here as my property, so that I may put my dead to rest.
创23:5 赫人回答亚伯拉罕，说：
创23:5 And in answer the children of Heth said to Abraham,
创23:6 “我主请听，你在我们中间是一位尊贵的王子，你可以在我们最好的坟地里埋葬你死了的人，我们必没有人阻止你在他的坟地埋葬你死了的人。”
创23:6 My lord, truly you are a great chief among us; take the best of our resting-places for your dead; not one of us will keep back from you a place where you may put your dead to rest.
创23:7 于是，亚伯拉罕起来，向当地的赫人下拜，
创23:7 And Abraham got up and gave honour to the children of Heth, the people of that land.
创23:8 对他们说：“你们若有意使我埋葬我死了的人，使她不露在我的眼前，就请听我的话，为我请求琐辖的儿子以弗仑，
创23:8 And he said to them, If you will let me put my dead to rest here, make a request for me to Ephron, the son of Zohar,
创23:9 叫他把他所拥有的，田头上那麦比拉洞卖给我。他可以按着十足的价银卖给我，使我在你们中间有产业作坟地。”
创23:9 That he will give me the hollow in the rock named Machpelah, which is his property at the end of his field; let him give it to me for its full price as a resting-place for my dead among you.
创23:10 那时，以弗仑正坐在赫人中间。于是，赫人以弗仑就回答亚伯拉罕，所有来到城门口的赫人都听见他说：
创23:10 Now Ephron was seated among the children of Heth: and Ephron the Hittite gave Abraham his answer in the hearing of the children of Heth, and of all those who came into his town, saying,
创23:11 “我主，不要这样，请听我说，这块田我送给你，连其中的洞我也送给你。我在我的族人眼前送给你，让你可以埋葬你死了的人。”
创23:11 No, my lord, I will give you the field with the hollow in the rock; before all the children of my people will I give it to you for a resting-place for your dead.
创23:12 亚伯拉罕就在当地的人面前下拜，
创23:12 And Abraham went down on his face before the people of the land.
创23:13 然后在当地的人面前对以弗仑说：“请听我说，如果你愿意，我必定把地的价银给你，请你收下吧，让我可以在那里埋葬我死了的人。”
创23:13 And Abraham said to Ephron, in the hearing of the people of the land, If only you will give ear to me, I will give you the price of the field; take it, and let me put my dead to rest there.
创23:14 以弗仑回答亚伯拉罕，对他说：
创23:14 So Ephron said to Abraham,
创23:15 “我主，请听我说，一块值四百块（四千五百克）银子的田地，在你我之间，算得什么呢？你埋葬你死了的人吧。”
创23:15 My lord, give ear to me: the value of the land is four hundred shekels; what is that between me and you? so put your dead to rest there.
创23:16 亚伯拉罕同意以弗仑说的价银，就照着他在赫人面前所说的，拿商人通用的银子，称了四百块（四千五百克）银子给以弗仑。
创23:16 And Abraham took note of the price fixed by Ephron in the hearing of the children of Heth, and gave him four hundred shekels in current money.
创23:17 于是，以弗仑在麦比拉，在幔利前面的那块地，包括那块田和其中的洞，田中和四周所有的树木，
创23:17 So Ephron's field at Machpelah near Mamre, with the hollow in the rock and all the trees in the field and round it,
创23:18 都在赫人眼前，就是在所有来到城门口的赫人眼前，归给亚伯拉罕作产业。
创23:18 Became the property of Abraham before the eyes of the children of Heth and of all who came into the town.
创23:19 这事以后，亚伯拉罕把自己的妻子撒拉埋在迦南地，幔利前面麦比拉田间的洞里。幔利就是希伯仑。
创23:19 Then Abraham put Sarah his wife to rest in the hollow rock in the field of Machpelah near Mamre, that is, Hebron in the land of Canaan.
创23:20 这样，那块田和田中的洞，就从赫人归给了亚伯拉罕为产业作坟地。
创23:20 And the field and the hollow rock were handed over to Abraham as his property by the children of Heth.
