出33:1 耶和华对摩西说：“你和你从埃及地领出来的人民要离开这里，上我曾经起誓应许给亚伯拉罕、以撒、雅各的地去，我曾应许：‘我要把这地赐给你的后裔。’
出33:1 And the Lord said to Moses, Go forward from this place, you and the people whom you have taken up out of the land of Egypt, to that land about which I made an oath to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, saying, To your seed will I give it.
出33:2 我要差派使者在你前面；我要把迦南人、亚摩利人、赫人、比利洗人、希未人、耶布斯人赶出去，
出33:2 And I will send an angel before you, driving out the Canaanite and the Amorite and the Hittite and the Perizzite and the Hivite and the Jebusite:
出33:3 你们要上那流奶与蜜的地方去；我不与你们一同上去，因为你们是硬着颈项的人民，免得我在路上把你们消灭。”
出33:3 Go up to that land flowing with milk and honey; but I will not go up among you, for you are a stiff-necked people, for fear that I send destruction on you while you are on the way.
出33:4 人民一听见这凶信，就悲伤起来，也没有人穿戴装饰。
出33:4 Hearing this bad news the people were full of grief, and no one put on his ornaments.
出33:5 耶和华对摩西说：“你要对以色列人说：‘你们是硬着颈项的民；我若是霎时间与你们同行，我会把你们消灭的；所以，现在你们要把你们身上的装饰脱下来，使我知道我要怎样处置你们。’”
出33:5 And the Lord said to Moses, Say to the children of Israel, You are a stiff-necked people: if I come among you, even for a minute, I will send destruction on you; so take off all your ornaments, so that I may see what to do with you.
出33:6 于是，以色列人从何烈山以后，就把身上的装饰脱下来。
出33:6 So the children of Israel took off their ornaments at Mount Horeb, and did not put them on again.
出33:7 摩西一向把会幕支搭在营外，离营远些；摩西称它为会幕。凡是寻求耶和华的，就出到营外的会幕那里去。
出33:7 Now it was Moses' way to put up the Tent of meeting outside the tent-circle, at some distance away; giving it the name of The Tent of meeting. And everyone desiring to make his prayer to the Lord went to the Tent of meeting outside the tent-circle.
出33:8 摩西出营到会幕去的时候，全体的人民都起来，各人站在自己帐幕的门口，望着摩西，直到他进了会幕。
出33:8 And whenever Moses went out to the Tent of meeting, all the people got up and everyone went to the door of his tent, looking after Moses till he went inside the Tent.
出33:9 摩西进会幕的时候，就有云柱降下来，停在会幕门口上面；耶和华就与摩西谈话。
出33:9 And whenever Moses went into the Tent, the pillar of cloud came down, and took its place by the door of the Tent, as long as the Lord was talking with Moses.
出33:10 全体的人民看见了云柱停在会幕门口上面，就都起来，各人在自己帐幕的门口下拜。
出33:10 And all the people saw the cloud at the door of the Tent, and they went down on their faces, everyone at the door of his tent.
出33:11 耶和华与摩西面对面说话，好像人对朋友说话一样。然后，摩西回到营里去，只有他的侍从，一个少年人，就是嫩的儿子约书亚，不离开会幕。
出33:11 And the Lord had talk with Moses face to face, as a man may have talk with his friend. And when Moses came back to the tents, his servant, the young man Joshua, the son of Nun, did not come away from the Tent.
出33:12 摩西对耶和华说：“看，你吩咐我说：‘把这百姓领上去’，可是你却没有让我知道你要差派谁与我同去；只是你曾经说过：‘我按着你的名字认识你，你在我眼前也蒙了恩。’
出33:12 And Moses said to the Lord, See, you say to me, Be this people's guide on their journey, but you have not made clear to me whom you will send with me. But you have said, I have knowledge of you by name, and you have grace in my eyes.
出33:13 现在我若是在你眼前蒙恩，求你把你的道路指示我，使我可以认识你，可以在你眼前蒙恩；也求你想到这民族是你的人民。”
出33:13 If then I have grace in your eyes, let me see your ways, so that I may have knowledge of you and be certain of your grace; and my prayer is that you will keep in mind that this nation is your people.
出33:14 耶和华说：“我必亲自与你同去，也必给你安息。”
出33:14 And he said, I myself will go with you and give you rest.
出33:15 摩西对他说：“你若是不亲自与我们同去，就不要把我们从这里领上去。
出33:15 And Moses said, If you yourself are not going with us, do not send us on from here.
出33:16 人在什么事上可以知道我和你的人民在你眼前蒙恩呢？不是因为你与我们同去，使我和你的人民可以和地上所有的人有分别吗？”
出33:16 For is not the fact of your going with us the sign that I and this people have grace in your eyes, so that we, that is, I and your people, are separate from all other people on the face of the earth?
出33:17 耶和华对摩西说：“你所说的这件事我也要作，因为你在我眼前蒙恩，并且我按着你的名字认识了你。”
出33:17 And the Lord said to Moses, I will do as you say: for you have grace in my eyes, and I have knowledge of you by your name.
出33:18 摩西说：“求你给我看看你的荣耀。”
出33:18 And Moses said, O Lord, let me see your glory.
出33:19 耶和华说：“我要使我的一切美善都在你面前经过，并且要把我的名字耶和华在你面前宣告出来；我要恩待谁，就恩待谁；我要怜悯谁，就怜悯谁。”
出33:19 And he said, I will make all the light of my being come before you, and will make clear to you what I am; I will be kind to those to whom I will be kind, and have mercy on those on whom I will have mercy.
出33:20 他又说：“你不能看我的脸，因为没有人看见了我还能活着。”
出33:20 But it is not possible for you to see my face, for no man may see me and still go on living.
出33:21 耶和华说：“看哪，我这里有个地方，你要站在盘石上。
出33:21 And the Lord said, See, there is a place near me, and you may take your place on the rock:
出33:22 我的荣耀经过的时候，我要把你放在盘石隙中，我要用我的手掌遮盖你，直到我过去了。
出33:22 And when my glory goes by, I will put you in a hole in the rock, covering you with my hand till I have gone past:
出33:23 然后，我要收回我的手掌，你就会看见我的背后，却不能看见我的脸。”
出33:23 Then I will take away my hand, and you will see my back: but my face is not to be seen.
